Sherrill-Kenwood Firefighters Quickly Bring Structure Fire Under Control
Sherrill, NY - On Thursday, February 26, 2026, at 10:05 a.m., the Sherrill-Kenwood Volunteer Fire Department was dispatched to 303 E. Hinds Avenue for a reported structure fire. Assistant Chief A. Bennett, responding as Car 2, arrived on scene shortly after and observed smoke coming from the front door. He immediately declared a working fire and requested a second alarm.
The fire was brought under control within 30 minutes. Units on the scene included Car 2, Engine 2, Truck 1, and Rescue 1, with a total of 16 members responding.
The department extended its gratitude to mutual aid partners, including Oneida Castle Fire Department, Volunteer Fire Company of Vernon, Inc., Vernon Center Fire Department, Munnsville Volunteer Fire Department, Verona Fire Department, Oneida City Fire Department, Westmoreland Volunteer Fire Department, and Vineall Ambulance.
Assistance from the Sherrill Police Department, Sherrill Power & Light, Sherrill Water Department, and the Oneida County Sheriff’s Office was also acknowledged, with the department noting that their support is vital to successful emergency response.
