Fatal House Fire on Whitney Road East Claims One Life; Crews Battle Blaze for Over Six Hours

Fairport, NY - In the evening of 27 February 2026 Firefighters responded to a structure fire on Whitney Road East, where crews arrived to find a residence located down an approximately 800-foot private driveway fully involved with fire on all sides.


Fire units worked extensively to bring the blaze under control, remaining on scene for more than six hours before clearing. Tragically, one individual was located deceased inside the home. The structure was deemed a total loss.


Multiple agencies assisted at the scene, including Egypt Fire Department, Macedon Center Volunteer Fire Department, South Macedon Fire and Rescue, Inc., Penfield Fire Company, Bushnell’s Basin Fire Department, Perinton Ambulance, the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office, the Town of Perinton, and the Emergency Communications Department - 911 in Rochester.


During the incident, coverage for the Fairport Fire Department was provided by East Rochester Fire Department and West Walworth Volunteer Fire Department.
