FAIR LAWN, NJ - On March 16th at approximately 4:30 P.M., Fair Lawn Police received several calls reporting a car accident in the wooded area at the rear of a house on Saddle River Rd., between the rear yard of the house and the county park. The car was engulfed in flames upon arrival of the first police units. Initial reports were that there was possibly a child in the rear seat of the vehicle. It was determined that there were no occupants in the vehicle. The FD arrived and quickly extinguished the fire and the surrounding brush which had ignited. A few police officers at the scene received oxygen due to smoke inhalation, but thankfully there were no serious injuries and no emergency personnel had to be transported. The driver of the vehicle was transported by Fair Lawn Volunteer Ambulance Corps. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
