February 28, 2026 — The Colchester Fire Department responded to an early morning structure fire at approximately 2:30 a.m. at 396 Al Shir Road after reports of a shed fire. Firefighters arrived to find multiple sheds fully involved, with flames spreading to nearby construction materials and a fence line. Strong wind conditions contributed to the rapid growth of the fire, raising concerns that it could extend to the nearby residence. Crews from the Colchester Fire Department, along with Colchester Rescue Squad, Saint Michael's College Fire and Rescue, and the Colchester Police Department quickly initiated suppression operations. Firefighters worked aggressively to knock down the flames and prevent further spread, ultimately containing and extinguishing the blaze before it reached the home. No injuries were reported.
