Vehicle Strikes Shirley Deli Almost Giving it Drive Through

Shirley N.Y.-On March 5, 2022, at about 11:40 AM Suffolk Counties 9-1-1 center received a report of a car into a building at the Sunshine Deli 525 Neighborhood Rd. Officers from Suffolk County Police 7th Precinct were dispatched along with Mastic Beach Ambulance and Mastic Beach FD. On arrival Police found a car had struck the large front window of the building. No one was trapped. Mastic Beach FD Assistant Chief Luis Grego { 5-13-32} responded into the scene and assessed the situation along with members of Mastic Beach Ambulance. The driver of the vehicle was out and walking around and refused further treatment. With 1 engine responding into the scene Asst Chief Grego radioed into Fire-com and advised that the scene was under control and the engine can return to quarters. A fire Marshal was requested to respond to assess the structural damage. The scene was turned over to police who closed the store while awaiting the fire marshal arrival.
