NEWBURGH, NY - Jeff Holmes was Master of Ceremonies at the Good Will Fire Department installation dinner held on March 2nd.
Opening prayer was said by Department Chaplain Deacon Peter Haight; for introduction of guests Amy Kosturk announced the company officers; Chief of the Department Tom Van Zandt announced his Firematic Officers and did a recap of 2023. John Conners then introduced the fire commissioners and Anthony Novella the benevolent officers. President of the Ladies Auxiliary announced her officers and later presented the fire department with a $200 check.
Firematic Officers then presented awards. Most Improved Firefighter went to Jason Baird; Gary Warden received his pin for 55 years; most calls made award was given to Frank Valdina, Sr.; Firefighter of the Year was given to Ed Pretorius. The Firematic Officer also thanked their wives and presented them with flowers.
After the awards, retired Newburgh Firefighter William Haight swore-in all the officers. Amy Kosturik read the Firemans Table that is set for one, and also told the story of the Red Bandana. After supper was served there was dancing with Izasion Productions. A good time was had by all.
