Central Square, NY — February 21st — In the Palermo Volunteer Fire Department district on County Route 4, firefighters from the Caughdenoy Volunteer Fire Department Inc. arrived to help with a three-alarm structure fire. Personnel from Rescue Pumper 622 and Tanker 651 responded. Before the fire was contained, crews assigned to interior fire assault operations worked inside the building for almost ninety minutes.
After then, firefighters conducted overhaul for almost two more hours in order to find and put out any last hot spots. Tanker 651 transported water from a neighboring fill site to assist with suppression efforts because there weren't enough hydrants in the region. Before going back into operation, units ran for almost four hours. Standby coverage was offered by the West Monroe Volunteer Fire Department.
