Saugerties, NY — February 8th — Following the activation of an alarm at an apartment building, the Cedar Grove Fire Company, 2885 NY-32, responded to a reported stove fire. Later, dispatch reported that there was smoke inside the building and that people were leaving. At first, arriving firefighters reported that nothing was visible from the outside. Within one unit, workers discovered a working fire involving a stove, cupboards, and surrounding garbage during interior operations. Later, as the fire spread, smoke was forced out of windows and eaves.

A working fire assignment was requested by the command. Engine 4 stretched a handline and established a water supply while Truck 1 laddered the building and assisted with searches and ventilation. The attic and upper floors were inspected by engines 2 and 3. Hurley Fire, Empress EMS, Glasco FAST, and other organizations provided assistance. There were no recorded firefighter injuries.
