This article is a direct street report from our correspondent and has not been edited by the 1st Responder newsroom.

Esopus, NY — February 7th — When the East Kingston Fire District reported a working structure fire, the Esopus Fire Department, PO Box 177, 1142 Broadway, responded under mutual aid. Engine 27-12 was manned by Esopus firefighters, who also arrived on the spot to assist with operations. As suppression efforts proceeded in below-freezing weather, which presented additional obstacles for personnel and equipment, crews came and helped East Kingston firefighters with fireground tasks.

A crucial component of Ulster County's emergency response is mutual help, which enables departments to supply extra personnel and equipment during operational emergencies. The Esopus crew evacuated the area and went back to their quarters after finishing their task. To finish the overhaul and make sure the area was secure, East Kingston firemen and supporting agencies stayed on the scene.
