SYRACUSE, NY - At 12:54 p.m. on February 11th, the Hinsdale Volunteer Fire Department and several mutual aid agencies responded to a reported residential structure fire in the 100 block of Campbell Road.
Deputies from the Onondaga County Sheriff’s Office arrived first and confirmed the residence was unoccupied while working to remove pets from the structure. Shortly after, Mattydale Car 1 reported smoke and an active fire on the Delta side of the structure, forcing Onondaga County Fire Control to escalate the situation to a Signal 99 working fire.
Hinsdale Engine 8 arrived first due and established command, with additional units responding from Liverpool, Mattydale, Lyncourt, Moyers Corners, Solvay, and North Syracuse. During the incident, one sheriff’s deputy was evaluated for smoke inhalation and one firefighter sustained minor burns. Several pets were rescued, though others did not survive. Coverage was provided by Minoa and Cicero fire departments.
