Brookhaven, NY - As members prepared for the approaching blizzard, the department was dispatched to a motor vehicle accident with reports of a driver trapped inside the vehicle. Upon arrival at Horseblock Road, responding units discovered a vehicle overturned in a ditch.

Firefighters from Rescue 4, Rescue 3, Engine 2, and Engine 9 immediately began rescue operations to free the driver. While the fire crews worked to extricate the individual, South Country Ambulance personnel stabilized the driver inside the overturned vehicle.

Within just 10 minutes, responders successfully removed the driver from the severely damaged vehicle. The patient was then quickly transported to a local hospital for further medical care.

The incident highlighted outstanding coordination between fire crews, EMS, and the SCPD, whose combined efforts ensured a rapid extrication and effective pre-hospital care for the individual involved
