The Crestview Fire Department's Technical Rescue Team responded to two different events on March 2 that required specialist rescue techniques.

The first report came from near the Santa Rosa and Okaloosa County line, where a guy slid about 20 feet down an embankment near a riverbank and was unable to free himself. Crews set up a low-angle rope system to reach the patient, bundle him, and securely guide him up the hillside to the waiting EMS professionals. The following agencies assisted: Blackman Volunteer Fire-Rescue, Almarante Volunteer Fire Department, Munson Volunteer Fire Rescue District, Skyline Fire Rescue, Okaloosa EMS, Okaloosa County Sheriff's Office, and the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission.

About an hour later, firefighters rushed to Mapoles Road for a tree worker who was experiencing a medical issue while dangling around 15 feet in the air. Firefighters stabilized the patient and safely lowered him to the ground before transporting him to a nearby hospital.
