Midnight Siren Signals Station Emergency, Prevents Potential Fire

Laporte, PA - Residents were startled this evening as the fire siren at the town’s social hall sounded repeatedly, waking many throughout the community. The unusual activation was promptly reported to the department’s Chief, who responded to investigate the cause.

Upon arrival, the Chief discovered that the main water line feeding into the station had ruptured. The break sent water spraying across the interior of the station and directly onto the electrical panel responsible for controlling the siren system. The malfunction triggered the siren to sound continuously.

The water supply was quickly shut off, and the siren control box was disconnected from its power source to prevent further issues.

While the unexpected alarm caused inconvenience for many residents, the incident may have ultimately prevented a far more serious situation. By drawing immediate attention to the problem, the siren likely helped avert a potential electrical fire within the social hall.

Department officials expressed their apologies for the disruption and extended their gratitude to the community members who called to report that something did not seem right. Their attentiveness played an important role in ensuring the situation was addressed swiftly and safely.
