LISBON, CT - At 12:30 P.M. on Friday, March 3rd, the Lisbon Fire Department held a groundbreaking ceremony for their new fire station that will be located on Route 138, about a quarter of a mile from their current house. Chief Cingranelli addressed the crowd and talked about the major accomplishments they have succeeded with over the past two years.

He talked about putting on paid staff, which has significantly improved response times while better serving the citizens. Then he went on to thank the citizens for approving the vote to secure funding for the new station, as well as a new Pierce Engine that will be delivered this spring. Chief Robinson spoke about the long road it took to get to this point and how the building committee was originally formed about 25 years ago.

The building committee has spent hundreds of hours working with Mitchell Associates Architects designing this facility that will be used for decades to come. Over the past couple of months crews have worked to clear and level the property.

About 20 people donned hard hats and grabbed a shovel to celebrate the official groundbreaking. Mutual aid partners from Baltic, Jewett City, Yantic, Norwich and Mystic were on hand to enjoy this historical event. Afterward everyone gathered back at the current Lisbon Fire Station for a lunch catered by La Stellas which was delicious.
