Chimney fire call brings the Coshocton FD

COSHOCTON, OHIO - On March 4, 2021, at about 10:50pm, the Coshocton FD was toned out to a house chimney fire in the 2000 block of Chestnut St. Upon arrival, the crew noticed some smoke coming out of the chimney. The firefighters laddered the roof and inspected the chimney. The firefighter could see a small fire near the bottom of the chimney.

Fire crew members inside cleaned out the woodburner and took the hot ashes outside. The interior crew then shot a dry chem fire extinguisher up the chimney and was successful at putting the fire out.

The firefighters were on scene for about 45 minutes and the occupants of the home were advised to get their chimney inspected and cleaned before lighting another fire. There was no damage to the home.

Assisting on scene was the Coshocton County EMS, Coshocton County R.E.A.C.T., and the Coshocton County Sheriff's office.
