Morning Structure Fire Knocked Down in Minutes

Savannah, GA — February 5th — At approximately 6:52 a.m., the Savannah Fire Department responded to a residential structure fire in the 1100 block of East Gwinnett Street. When crews arrived, they saw substantial smoke and flames emanating from the home and immediately began suppression efforts. The fire was brought under control at 7:03 a.m. and declared extinguished at 7:07 a.m. One resident was transported by EMS with minor injuries and relocated as a result of the fire. Firefighters remained on scene to complete the refurbishment and assure the structure's safety. The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
