RIDGEFIELD, NJ - At approximately 12:47 P.M. on March 3rd, the Ridgefield Fire Department was dispatched to the area of Pleasant View Terrace and Railroad Ave., for a report of multiple box trucks on fire. Chief Russo reported a large black smoke column while enroute and requested an in-boro second-alarm, along with bringing mutual aid companies into the scene.

 

Chief Russo arrived on scene with Engine 3 and both units confirmed four trucks fully involved with fire in the rear of the building at 65 Railroad Ave. Chief of Dept. Ghizzone arrived and took command of the incident not too long after. Multiple hand lines, along with deck guns from Engines 3 and 4, and Engine 1's ladder pipe went into operation to knock down the heavy fire.

 

This incident would reach a third-alarm, bringing additional units to the scene and to cover the town. Units operated on scene for about four hours. Mutual aid from Ridgefield Park, Fairview, and Palisades Park operated on scene while companies from Cliffside Park, Leonia and others covered the Boro. The Bergen County HazMat was requested due to the fluid run off. There were no injuries reported. The fire is under investigation.
