BAKER COUNTY, FL — February 22nd — A brush fire in the Taylor area, around the 23000 block of Hilltop Road, was responded to by Baker County Fire Rescue and Florida Forest Service. Crews tried to confine and extinguish the approximately eight-acre fire, which was believed to have started from an escaping rubbish burn.
The fire threatened surrounding homes and property before firefighters were able to put it out. Officials stated that the synchronized approach helped limit damage and protect the surrounding environment.
Firefighters continue to urge homeowners to respect the active burn prohibition, which will remain in effect until significant rainfall lessens wildfire risk.
