Hazlehurst, GA — February 24th — In order to provide candidates with practical experience with fire behavior in a controlled setting, Hazlehurst-Jeff Davis County Fire Rescue, located at 31 Pat Dixon Road, 31539, organized a Firefighter I live fire evolution called a settee burn. Students from the Scotland Fire Department, McRae-Helena Fire Department, and Hazlehurst-Jeff Davis County Fire Rescue participated in the training.

The practice concentrated on three essential abilities for contemporary fireground operations: coordinated inside attack, smoke movement, and fire dynamics. The burn was led by the Georgia Department of Corrections and instructors from the participating agencies. During the training, Jeff Davis County EMS supported firefighter safety with standby coverage. According to officials, live fire training improves teamwork and regional cooperation while preparing new firefighters for actual events.
