Building Construction Class Enhances Fireground Readiness

SAVANNAH, GA — February 3rd — During a tour to a downtown remodel project, Savannah Fire Department Recruit Class 25-01 learned about building construction firsthand. The exercise exposed recruits to real-world construction aspects that affect firefighting operations.

Recruits witnessed restricted spaces, heated job activities, firefighting standpipes, roof systems, and other building elements. Officials stated that understanding modern construction processes is crucial for firefighter safety, size-up, and tactical decision-making in situations. The agency praised Choate Construction for sponsoring the training opportunity and establishing community partnerships.
