MELBOURNE, FL — February 20th — The City of Melbourne has announced the appointment of Shane Leech as the new Fire Chief of the Melbourne Fire Department. According to city officials, Leech has vast operational experience and a deep commitment to public service. Leech has been with the department for 28 years, holding critical leadership positions like as Battalion Chief, Division Chief, and Deputy Chief. He has also been the Interim Fire Chief since July 2025, following the retirement of former Fire Chief Chuck Bogle.
