Heavy Smoke Reported in Two-Story Gentilly Drive Structure; Fire Contained

Statesboro, GA - On 12th February at 1:28 a.m., the Statesboro Fire Department responded to a reported structure fire in the 100 block of Gentilly Drive involving an occupied two-story, multi-family residence. Battalion 1 and Truck 1 arrived on scene within three minutes and observed heavy smoke coming from second-floor windows and the roof area.
Fire crews immediately initiated an aggressive interior attack, successfully locating and containing the fire to the room of origin. Additional first-alarm units arrived within five minutes to assist with overhaul operations and ventilation.
Deputy Chief Bobby Duggar stated that the rapid response and coordinated interior efforts enabled firefighters to quickly identify the seat of the fire and prevent it from spreading further throughout the building.
The affected apartment sustained moderate fire damage to the room of origin, along with smoke damage across the second floor. No injuries were reported.
The Statesboro Fire Department is currently investigating the cause of the fire. The CAFÉ unit and the American Red Cross were notified to provide assistance to residents displaced by the incident.
