On February 5, 2022, Members of the Pleasantdale Fire Department in the town of Schaghticoke received a call for help as an individual in their community was coming home from the hospital and could not make it up into their house as the heavy amounts of sleet and snow made it extremely difficult to get safely into the home. Multiple members of the department came together in the early hours of the morning and began to shovel, break apart ice, and clear the walkway into the home to make it safe for the individual coming home from the hospital.
Firefighters were able to clear the walkway and placed calcium chloride down on the walkway and ramp into the house so the individual would be able to make it into their home safely. Members of the Pleasantdale Fire Department went above and beyond the normal call of duty today to help a member in their community in need.
