Sumter County to Host Refrigerated Container Training

Sumter County Fire and Rescue, in collaboration with Americus Fire and Emergency Services, will hold a specialized Refrigerated Container Awareness program to enhance responder safety and operational readiness. The training will equip firefighters and emergency personnel with improved expertise for properly managing situations involving refrigerated shipping and storage units.
The program will cover recognizing dangers, understanding container construction, and implementing safe mitigation measures during fires, explosions, and other emergencies affecting these units. The program also emphasizes lessons acquired from previous incidents and the significance of situational awareness on the modern firefighting scene. Officials stated that the training improves regional preparation and cooperation among mutual-aid partners. The seminar will run from 1:00 to 5:00 p.m. at the Sumter County Ag Center in Americus.
