February 25, 2026 — Baker County Fire Rescue and units from the Florida Forest Service responded to an approximately 8-acre brush fire in the 23000 block of Hilltop Road in the Taylor area. The fire, believed to have originated from an escaped debris burn, threatened nearby homes and surrounding property before crews worked to contain and extinguish the blaze. Fire officials emphasized that the current burn ban remains in effect and urged residents to comply, noting that restrictions will stay in place until significant rainfall is received later in the spring. Authorities continue to remind the public that outdoor burning during dry conditions can quickly spread and pose serious risks to life and property.
