— February 3rd — Charlotte County Public Safety praised Emma Ruperd, a Parks and Recreation employee, for her actions during a medical emergency at Centennial Park. The honor was bestowed before to a recent Board meeting.

A child started choking when I was watching campers at lunchtime. Ruperd responded shortly after being warned by the camper's sister. She remained calm and used her skills to do back strikes, which successfully dislodged the obstruction and prevented additional injuries. Ruperd was recognized by Charlotte County Fire and EMS for her rapid thinking and excellent response, as well as being awarded Employee of the Month and receiving an Exceptional Service Award.
