Cumberland, ME - The Cumberland Fire Department recently conducted a specialized training focused on off-road emergency response. With Cumberland offering abundant outdoor recreation opportunities, the department prioritizes preparing crews to handle emergencies that occur in remote and rugged environments.

The evening’s training scenario involved a simulated head-on snowmobile crash with multiple patients. Crews were tasked with locating the incident along a local trail, triaging and treating the injured individuals, and safely removing them from the wooded area. Patients were transported out of the woods to awaiting ambulances using the department’s rescue snowmobile, ensuring a realistic and hands-on training experience.
