BINGHAMTON, NY - Crews were dispatched to a reported building fire at the VOA Living Center on Glenwood Road, February 5th. Upon arrival, Chief 63 encountered heavy smoke conditions on the first floor. Shortly thereafter, Chief 63A, Chief 63B, Quint 63, and Squad 63 arrived and located a garbage can fire inside a first-floor room. Firefighters quickly extinguished the fire, checked for any extension, and initiated ventilation to clear the smoke. The incident was handled efficiently with assistance from the Choconut Center Volunteer Fire Department and the New York State Police.
