Lee County Fire and Emergency Services is taking applications for the 2018 Firefighter Recruit Class. The program is open to anyone who wants to help the community while also pursuing a career in the fire department. No past fire experience is required, and selected individuals will be given professional training, hands-on instruction, and mentorship throughout the process.

Officials stated that the recruit program is intended to provide members with the skills, knowledge, and operational readiness required to respond to emergencies and defend lives and property. The agency serves the residents of Leesburg, Smithville, and the neighboring communities of Lee County.
