Macon-Bibb Crews Rescue Cat from 50-Foot Well

MACON, GA — February 19th —The Macon-Bibb County Fire Department responded to a complaint of a cat falling roughly 50 feet down a well. Special Operations Car 61, led by Christopher Yaughn, arrived and requested the Technical Rescue Rope Team.

At 12:21 p.m., Lt. Kip Goss entered the well via rope rescue tactics. Firefighters made touch with the animal within minutes. The cat was securely removed and handed over to Animal Control at 12:26 p.m. At 12:30 p.m., Lieutenant Goss evacuated the well without injury. On scene were Engine 15, Battalion 3, Special Operations Car 61, Deputy Fire Chief 300, Ladder 17, GSAR 10, and Rescue 8. Officials stated that the response demonstrated the need of technical rescue skills and coordinated actions in helping both residents and animals.
