Dixie County Fire Rescue has received the Florida Prehospital Pediatric Readiness Recognition Program Silver Tier designation under the Florida PEDReady project. The award follows a year-long process of satisfying benchmarks for pediatric equipment, training, and patient care requirements.

The Florida Emergency Medical Services for Children State Partnership Program has formally designated the department as pediatric-ready. Dixie County Fire Rescue is the 11th county in Florida to receive this certification, and the only county to do so without a hospital emergency department within its jurisdiction.
