On January 31, Crystal River Fire Rescue's Sterling Harris received the Spirit of Community Award at the 3rd Annual Citrus County Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Gala. Harris, who was also named the department's 2025 Firefighter of the Year, was honored for his dedication to service and strong community ties.

Department members attended the event to support and celebrate the accomplishment. According to Chief Frank Melillo, Harris exemplifies the organization's principles via leadership, professionalism, and a commitment to assisting others. "Sterling sets the example of community and service to others," Mr. Melillo remarked.
