HOLLYWOOD, FLORIDA — January 27th — As part of Firefighter Cancer Awareness Month, Hollywood Fire Rescue and Beach Safety focused Week 4 on behavioral health and the problems that come with a cancer diagnosis. The department emphasized the emotional, behavioral, and physical effects that cancer can have on firefighters and their families, while also promoting tools to help members at every stage of treatment.
This week's focus was on practical coping skills, communication tips for stressful situations, and emotional and behavioral health assistance. The campaign also urged members to use accessible resources, peer networks, and wellness programs to boost their resilience and connectedness.
