Coordinated Response Limits Fire Spread

FORSYTH, GA — February 18th — Monroe County Emergency Services and the City of Forsyth Fire Department responded to a reported entrapment in an apartment fire at the Union Hill Apartments on Union Hill Drive. Upon arrival, crews conducted primary searches and launched an interior fire assault. Before firefighters arrived, one resident reportedly leaped from a second-story window, according to witnesses.


One victim was found by searchers inside a heavily burned residence. Due to smoke inhalation, two more individuals were taken to a nearby hospital. According to preliminary investigations, the fire began on the first floor and spread to the attic and upper level. With assistance from regional organizations, the Georgia State Fire Marshal's Office is looking into the cause.
