TARPON SPRINGS, FL — January 29th — This week, firefighters from all three shifts participated in Tarpon Springs Fire Rescue's extensive fire simulation training to hone their defensive operations and water supply skills. During the training, participants learned how to feed an aerial ladder truck with high flow rates of up to 1,250 gallons per minute utilizing an engine company that is connected to a hydrant.
Crews rehearsed using the defensive mode, which is employed when interior entrance is dangerous and structural stability is jeopardized. These activities aid in limiting the spread of fire and safeguarding adjacent exposures. Additionally, the evolutions strengthened cooperation between engine and truck firms, water supply management, and pump operations. Consistent training throughout shifts, according to officials, enhances preparedness for major emergencies and promotes safe fireground decision-making.
