ST. AUGUSTINE, FL — February 18th — To raise awareness of the department's Spark the Flame girls camp and to support statewide fire service efforts, members of the St. Augustine Fire Department attended Fire Service Day at the Capitol. Agencies from all over Florida came together for the event to meet with lawmakers and talk about community risk reduction initiatives, training, and recruitment.
In order to showcase the state's girls fire camps, the department shared a booth with the Tallahassee Fire Department. These courses offer practical instruction, leadership training, and an introduction to vocations in the fire service. In order to exchange information and promote ongoing support for outreach and workforce development initiatives, members also met with local representatives. According to officials, Fire Service Day fosters collaborations and opportunities that inspire the next generation to think about pursuing jobs in public safety.
