On February 19, Baker County Fire Rescue (BCFR) responded to a woodlands fire in the Sanderson area caused by a person who burnt domestic rubbish and left the fire unattended. The fire grew swiftly due to the dry ground and strong breezes, consuming around four acres and endangering three nearby homes.

BCFR workers collaborated with the Florida Forest Service and the Macclenny Fire Rescue Department to control the fire and safeguard the residents. Officials stated that the residences were saved and that the fire is now under control. Fire authorities reminded homeowners that burning domestic rubbish is against state law and can result in dangerous wildfires.
