Alachua County Fire Rescue crews on February 18 reconnected with a cardiac arrest survivor who fully recovered during an emergency response in July 2025. During the original event, Gainesville Fire Rescue Engine 5 assisted with the patient's treatment and transportation.

The conference allowed firefighters and paramedics to see the long-term effects of their efforts. Officials said these reunions are uncommon, but they underscore the necessity of prompt reaction, early CPR, and coordinated advanced life support in improving survival rates. The survivor described their recuperation process and thanked the workers for their assistance. Department commanders stated that the event highlighted the importance of coordination, training, and good partnerships among area emergency agencies.
