Two-Day TEEX Course Strengthens Emergency Communications

ALACHUA, FL — February 13th —Public Information Officers from Alachua County Fire Rescue, High Springs Fire Department, Alachua Police Department, and several area agencies completed TEEX's two-day Public Information in All Hazards Incidents training. The training centered on increasing communication during emergencies and coordinating with the public and media.

Participants discussed crisis messaging, media relations, and the use of social media to provide accurate and timely information during incidents. The seminar also emphasized the need of public information officers in assisting unified command and sustaining public trust during complicated emergencies.
