February 6, 2026 — The Barnstable Fire District announced significant progress this week in the construction of its new Engine 3, as Pierce Manufacturing has completed final assembly of the apparatus and officially moved it into the testing phase. This marks a major milestone in the build process and brings the department one step closer to placing the new engine into frontline service. In two weeks, members of the Capital Improvement Committee will travel to Pierce’s manufacturing facility in Appleton for final inspection and comprehensive testing to ensure the apparatus meets all required specifications and operational expectations prior to delivery. Department officials expressed satisfaction with the project’s steady progress and look forward to bringing Engine 3 back home to be outfitted and prepared for service. Once in operation, the new engine will enhance emergency response capabilities and strengthen service delivery to residents throughout the Barnstable Fire District.
