February 4, 2026 — It was a busy evening for the Berlin Fire & EMS Department and surrounding communities, with several incidents occurring in a short time span.

At 4:13 p.m., Engine 3 and Ambulance 2 responded to a medical emergency on Peach Hill Road. While crews were operating there, Engine 3 was dispatched at 4:28 p.m. to provide mutual aid to the Lancaster Fire Department for a reported structure fire. Ambulance 2 and 6C responded for station coverage after clearing the medical call.

At 4:53 p.m., Berlin units were dispatched to a reported chimney fire on Ball Hill Road. Responding units included C5, C7, Tanker 1, and Car 3. Mutual aid assistance was provided by Clinton Fire Department, Northborough Fire Department, Boylston Fire Department, and Marlborough Firefighters Local 1714. Once clear from Lancaster, Engine 3, Ambulance 2, and 6C also responded to the scene. The fire was contained to the chimney with no extension into the home and was safely extinguished.

At 6:13 p.m., while clearing the chimney fire, units were dispatched to a motor vehicle crash on West Street.

Mutual aid played a critical role throughout the evening, with departments working seamlessly together to manage simultaneous incidents. The department also recognized the Nashoba Valley Regional Emergency Communications Center for coordinating multiple emergencies, including fires in two communities, with professionalism and precision.
