THOMASTON, GA — February 13th — During Career Day at Upson-Lee High School, the Thomaston Fire Department (615 North Church Street, Thomaston, GA, 30286) showcased their everyday operations and career options in the fire service. Recruitment and community engagement initiatives were aided by the outreach. Firefighters described the requirements for entering the field, including training and qualifications.

Students watched demonstrations of hydraulic rescue tools used in car extrication and experimented on firefighting gear. Additionally, crews talked about safety, cooperation, and the value of planning while responding to emergencies. Programs like Career Day, according to officials, facilitate workforce development and link departments with potential candidates. The next generation of emergency responders is inspired and community ties are strengthened when young people are exposed to jobs in public safety.
