PORT ST. LUCIE, FL — February 13th — To improve aviation emergency response, members of the St. Lucie County Fire District attended a rigorous Aircraft Rescue and Firefighting (ARFF) school in Jacksonville. FF/PM Lindsey Lambert, Lt. Jeremy Rouse, Lt. Craig Stolzer, and FF/PM Amanda Ledbetter-Yoder received training in aviation incident command, airfield navigation, and aircraft incident response techniques.

Foam application, the use of specialized ARFF equipment, and practical search and rescue for downed aircraft were all part of the program. Guidelines from the Federal Aviation Administration and the National Aviation Administration encourage routine training to enhance response times and cooperation in aviation crises. At Treasure Coast International Airport, Station 4 is home to three of the four members. According to officials, the training improves preparedness and safeguards flight crews, passengers, and the population of St. Lucie County.
