Air and Water Units Support Beach Search

ENGLEWOOD, FL — January 25th — A multi-agency search was conducted for a missing 66-year-old diver near Manasota Beach with assistance from the Englewood Area Fire Control District, located at 579 S. Indiana Ave., Englewood, FL, 34223. When the diver went into the ocean and failed to come ashore, the response started just after noon. After a buddy reported the occurrence, a thorough search was conducted. Coordinated air, sea, and land operations were carried out by crews.


The Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission, Sarasota County Sheriff's Office, Sarasota County Fire Department, Sarasota Police Department, Venice Fire and Police, and the U.S. Coast Guard were among the agencies that took part. Aerial searches were aided by helicopters. On Sunday afternoon, the diver was found and recovered. The significance of coordinated marine search operations and water safety awareness was underlined by officials. The diver's friends and family received condolences.
