SARASOTA, FL — February 7th — Two brush fires were reported to Sarasota County Emergency Services: one in the 3400 block of Wild Citrus Road and one in the 5300 block of Saddle Oak Trail. At both sites, many units worked with the Florida Forest Service. In dry and windy circumstances, firefighters worked to safeguard surrounding homes and stop the fire from spreading. Crews applied water, set up control lines, and kept an eye on the fire's activity.

There were no reported damaged structures. While activities continued, officials encouraged drivers to stay away from the impacted regions and take other routes. Throughout the night, units stayed on the scene to look for hotspots. Because smoke was expected to remain visible throughout ongoing mop-up and monitoring efforts, residents were encouraged to remain vigilant.
