Sumter Crews Contain Dogwood Drive Fire

AMERICUS, GA — February 2nd — A structure fire was reported on Dogwood Drive, and Sumter County Fire Rescue, located at 300 McMath Mill Rd., Americus, GA, USA, responded. Before crews arrived, dispatch verified that everyone had left the house. Tankers 1 and 6 were assigned to the event, as were Engines 11 and 61.


The first engine to arrive reported that there was an active fire and set up assault lines to start putting it out. Firefighters prevented the fire from spreading to other parts of the house by promptly containing it. Support and operations on the fireground were aided by other responding agencies. There were no reported injuries. Sumter County incident Rescue is investigating the cause of the incident, which is still unknown. Residents are still being reminded by officials of the value of having functional smoke alarms and making plans for home escape.
