Brush Fire Burns 240 Acres in Okeechobee

OKEECHOBEE COUNTY, FL — February 7th — Okeechobee County Fire Rescue responded to a brush fire on NW 160th Street near 144th Avenue, which burned approximately 240 acres. One camper on the property was destroyed, but no human or animal injuries were recorded. The fire has since been declared fully suppressed.
The Florida Forest Service, Okeechobee County Sheriff's Office, and Animal Control all assisted throughout the event. Forestry resources comprised several tractor plows, a supervisor, a fixed-wing aircraft, a helicopter, and more equipment. Officials stated that there was no threat to public safety.
