February 19, 2026 — Melbourne Beach Volunteer Fire Department announced that Fire Chief Gavin Brown has been elected to serve as President of the Space Coast Fire Chiefs’ Association. The association is comprised of all 17 fire and rescue departments located within Brevard County and is dedicated to collaborative problem-solving to address emergency services issues. Through coordinated initiatives and shared expertise, the organization works to improve fire-rescue services and strengthen interagency cooperation throughout the region. Chief Brown’s election reflects the confidence of his peers and highlights his leadership within the county’s public safety community. In his new role, he will help guide countywide efforts focused on enhancing operational readiness, addressing emerging challenges, and fostering continued partnership among Brevard County fire-rescue agencies.
