Fire Held to Room of Origin

STATESBORO, GA — February 13th — At 11:28 a.m., the Statesboro Fire Department responded to the 100 block of Gentilly Drive for a report of a structure fire in an inhabited two-story multi-family house. Battalion 1 and Truck 1 arrived in three minutes and reported substantial smoke coming from the second-floor windows and roof area.

Firefighters launched an intensive inside attack, immediately locating the source of the fire and restricting it to the room of origin. Within five minutes, additional first responders arrived and helped with the overhaul and ventilation. The apartment experienced moderate fire damage in the room of origin, as well as smoke damage across the second level. There were no injuries recorded. The CAFÉ unit and the American Red Cross were notified to assist the displaced residents. The reason of the fire remains under investigation.
