ALACHUA COUNTY, FL — February 11th — Rescue 23 and Engine 80 crews, as well as the dispatcher who handled the original call, were reunited with a patient they treated after a devastating motorcycle crash last month. The patient had a horrific amputation but lived thanks to prompt treatment and coordinated emergency response.
According to officials, the Alachua County Sheriff's Office placed a tourniquet before fire-rescue teams arrived, which was vital in saving the patient's life. ACFR professionals continued advanced care while coordinating transportation to definitive medical treatment. Firefighter/EMT Germain was also praised for stopping while off duty to help during the event.
